A factor of ten is not a discrepancy, it is something else
Between what the gateway settles and what your database says there are always small differences. An amount that comes out ten or a thousand times lower is not a difference: it is a unit fault. The alert has to tell those two cases apart or it is no use.
The spreadsheet export eats the third digit
A file opened in a spreadsheet is formatted by the program's rules, which nearly always show two decimals. Someone looks at that number, takes it as good and uploads it again. The export is generated at full precision and with the separator declared.
The currency table needs maintaining too
Currencies change: they are added, withdrawn and occasionally redenominated. If that information lives inside the code, every small change becomes a release with its risk and its window. Held as data your team can edit, it is one row and five minutes.
Watching for amounts the currency cannot express
An automated check can walk the stored amounts every night and flag those with more decimals than the currency allows or those that come out suspiciously round. It is not looking for one fault: it looks for the whole family, including the ones not yet written.
