We keep the change, not just the result
A record edited five times usually keeps only the fifth version. We keep all five: which field changed, who touched it and at what time. It takes more disk and a little more work up front. In exchange, “who set this price?” has an answer instead of an argument.
Two people editing the same thing don't overwrite each other
The default behaviour of almost any form is that whoever saves last wins, and the first person never finds out their work is gone. We detect simultaneous editing and warn before anything is written over. Silent failures are the ones that take longest to spot.
The code keeps its own record too
Laravel, React or Next.js depending on the project, in your repository and under your name from the first commit. Every line has an author and a date, and every deployment is tagged. A change in production behaviour can be tied to a specific commit and a specific day, not to somebody's memory.
Deleting for real is the exception
A deleted record is marked as deleted, with a date and someone responsible, instead of vanishing from the database. What has to be erased for good is erased for good, and that list is set by your legal advisers, not by us. Our job is to make both possible and keep them apart.
