The website is rarely the owner of the data
Stock lives in the warehouse system, prices in the management software and customers in the CRM. The first thing we put in writing is which system rules each field and which one only displays it. Without that list, the website ends up fixing data that another system overwrites again the same night.
What to do when the old system has no API
It happens more often than you would think, and there is a way out. In order of preference: a scheduled export to a file, reading from a replica of its database, or a small service installed next to the system that translates outwards. Driving its screen is the last resort, and we will tell you when it is.
The website stays up when the other system does not answer
ERP maintenance cannot take your website down. We keep the last good response, queue anything that needs writing and show an honest notice instead of an error page. When the system comes back, the queue drains on its own and no order has been lost along the way.
The integrated part is quoted once we have seen it
Design and development can be estimated well in advance. Integration cannot: it depends on the state of the documentation, on whether the data is clean and on who has access to what. So we start with a short, fixed-price discovery phase and quote the rest once it is done.
