Your server already counts what happens
Before you install anything, the machine serving your pages already notes what is requested, with which response code and how long it took. That is first-party measurement: the data is born inside and travels nowhere. What is usually missing is not the data, it is someone who sits down to read it.
Analytics served from your own domain
The alternative to a third-party script is a counter that runs on your infrastructure and stores aggregate figures: page, referrer, country, device type. With nothing that persists from one visit to the next. It is decided while building, because adding it later means going back through every template.
The code is yours, and so is the history
Laravel, React or Next.js, depending on what the project needs. Repository and infrastructure in your company's name, and with them the years of accumulated metrics. If you change supplier one day you do not just take the site: you take the historical series, which a third-party platform rarely lets you export in full.
Measuring should not weigh anything
A handful of third-party tags adds requests, delays rendering and degrades exactly the metrics it claims to watch. First-party collection fits in a few kilobytes and is sent once the page is already in front of the user. Some sites get faster by removing measurement, not by adding it.
