MVP Development en Vienna
How we work in Vienna
The shortcuts go on a list, not in someone's head
Every decision taken for speed is written down next to what undoing it would cost: the report generated by hand for now, the table with no indexes, the admin panel that is a spreadsheet. At the end you hold the debt taken on and its price, which makes it a business decision and not a surprise.
The dangerous MVP is the one that works
If validation goes badly, the code is thrown away and what it held inside does not matter. If it goes well, that first version stays in production for three years, because there is always something more urgent than fixing it. That is why some parts get no shortcuts: user identity, data model and backups.
Disposable parts, marked as disposable
In an MVP it is fine to have pieces meant to be thrown away, as long as they are chosen: a step a person does by hand for now, a simulated integration. What cannot happen is that six months later nobody remembers which ones they were. They are flagged in the code and in the same document as the shortcuts.
If it takes off, the first thing you pay is the debt
When the product validates, the first item on the next plan is not new features: it is deciding which shortcuts get settled before building on top, which always costs less than doing it two years later. Tu Garaje Virtual is our own product and we have paid that bill ourselves, so we are not repeating it second-hand.
