Every finding with hours and with gain
Not a report of problems, which gets filed away, but a table: what it costs to fix in hours, what it gains, and whether your team can do it or someone has to be hired. That last column is what decides whether the document gets executed or stored.
Written rules so it does not depend on us
The finish is lost when each person decides on their own how long a transition lasts or how an error message is worded. Half a dozen short, agreed rules pay off more than an external review every month, and they still hold when whoever applies them changes.
Sometimes the conclusion is to leave it alone
If the product still has little use, polishing the finish is not the priority, and saying so costs us a piece of work. First let people use it and let the places where they genuinely stumble appear. Polishing a screen nobody visits is the best-executed useless work there is.
