How we work in Monaco
Touch targets measured, not drawn
Forty-four points on iOS, forty-eight on Android. An icon can look small and still have a large touch target: they are different things and they are declared separately. The destructive action goes far from the main one, and whatever is used daily stays within thumb reach.
A skeleton instead of a spinner
A grey frame shaped like the content that is coming feels faster than a spinning circle, even when the actual time is identical. For anything genuinely slow, progress with a percentage. A spinner with no end is the most effective way to make someone close the app.
System settings win
Dynamic text size, high contrast and reduced motion are respected because whoever turns them on needs them. We test with the text size at maximum, which is where layouts built with a single measurement in mind fall apart, and that is where you see whether it holds.
Animation uses the platform's own curves
The system's own durations and easings, not invented half-second values. A transition exists to explain where the new screen came from; if it only decorates, it goes. And it is measured on a mid-range phone with the battery at half, which is where most people live.
