SEO and Search Rankings en Edinburgh
How we work in Edinburgh
The crawler and the screen reader read the same thing
A heading that is an h2 because it belongs there, not because the size looked right. An image with alt text describing what is in it. A link whose text says where it goes. None of the three is a ranking trick: they are accessibility requirements that happen to give Google the structure it needs.
Our own position in the United Kingdom is 43.2
Over ninety-two days webcoding.es collected two hundred impressions in the United Kingdom, an average position of 43.2 and not a single click. Position 43 is page five: appearing without anyone seeing you. We show it because it is our real number, and because a supplier who will not show theirs usually has a reason.
A video without captions is content nobody indexes
A transcript and captions are an accessibility requirement and, at the same time, they turn ten minutes of video into crawlable text that today exists for no search engine at all. It is the cleanest example of a task justified by two separate reasons, and it almost never appears in a content plan.
Structured data will not fix a missing h1
There is a temptation to start with the showy part: schema, breadcrumbs, internal linking. Underneath, plenty of sites have four h1s instead of one, jump from h2 to h4 and call every link ‘read more’. That goes first because it is cheap, because it is measurable and because it also fixes screen reader navigation.
